discussion of svt members in fe3h classes/ potentially parallels to canon but idk.
see notes/inspirations at bottom. also i'm really sorry about the amount mousebusters influenced this but it's on my mind i can't help it!!!
COUPS:

other notes: the listed weapon type skills are the "proficiencies" listed on the wiki, and not the class qualifications (great knight requires riding but its proficiency is in lance). which tbh i don't know exactly how they're used. like i'm not sure if it's that every battle they gain skill points for those or if the skill increases faster or whatever... it's not like most units are limited to those weapon types but i know they gain some kind of benefit for using them. often classes that specialize in swords get swordfaire (+5 strength using sword) etc but that's only one weapon per class so idk.
i only wrote this out here because i have 0 intention of writing an actual fe3h au but now that i think about it it would be quite fun, ala jess's atla au fic (side plot not main plot sort of way). as some may know i previously tried writing an fe14 omg/b1a4 main plot au and it never happened, thankfully.
original list was made in march, after jess asked me what classes i thought the members would be? and then a few weeks ago jess and i rediscussed. today i was twitter researching and i stumbled upon this tweet! i now agree with a lot of its choices but i didn't go the units -> houses route because i did not want to think about story, or have to worry about house balance etc, also i tried to exclude female-exclusive classes per the game canon.

COUPS:
- emperor: axe/authority/heavy armor
- coups is reputably svt's strongest member physically (dino second), but he also possesses authority. lord classes are tied to canon, so i have to say he's also house leader and qualifies to have a final lord class. he seems more suited to hand-to-hand combat (see today's gose, mousebusters #2) than archery, so that rules claude's classes out; that leaves emperor (axe authority heavy armor) or great lord (sword lance authority)... and to generalize a little (aka not tie him to a certain country) i'm just gna say great lord, as it is fire emblem's most generic protagonist lord class. although i could see him being good with axes, so... I TAKE IT BACK. coups is a defender too. steady, resilient, not afraid to charge forward and take the hits.
- ???
- holy knight: lance/faith/riding
- dark bishop > dark knight: lance/reason/riding
- trickster: sword/reason/faith
- this guy is tough... if we go linhardt = jeonghan his end class is likely to be holy knight (lance/faith/riding) but there are so many ways we could go with this. he's lazy and hates doing work, and would rather order someone else (eg. seungcheol) to do the work for him. so i definitely don't think he's a physical class, but he doesn't have to use the phys weapon of his class of choice. i like dark bishop because it has the heartseeker ability (that lowers avo of adjacent enemies) but i'll settle for the dark bishop -> dark knight (lance/reason/riding) promotion tree, which allows jeonghan to pick up lifetaker (regains hp when he kills someone LOL). jeonghan sure does get satisfaction out of winning. holy knight would give him better aptitude for healing which is ideal if he doesn't want to get in the line of fire... trickster (sword/reason/faith) would give him the mobility (locktouch/stealth/lucky 7 abilities) to pull off schemes which is absolutely a role i can imagine jeonghan having in a svt capture the flag type of game.. also he's a lucky person. jeonghan has a rep for having high emotional intelligence and holding svt together (isfj) and i think he would be willing to kill to protect his loved ones...
- holy knight: lance/faith/riding
- sniper > bow knight: lance/bow/riding
- i didn't want this post to be about svt members potential allegiances to the church of seiros but i guess that does need to be considered somewhat... that would probably place josh as a holy knight (lance/faith/riding). also, call me basic but i love the idea of dark knight jeonghan/holy knight joshua..... originally i put him as trickster (sword/reason/faith) because he is as much of a trickster as jeonghan, but i don't think he has a particular affinity to the stealth/thief-adjacent aspects of the class...? considering buff josh i think he fits well as a magic/phys class. i don't know why but i could see him as a sniper/bow knight as well because he doesn't seem the type to want to get his hands dirty...
- dancer: sword/authority
- trickster: sword/reason/faith
- initially i placed jun and hoshi as dancers because aside from their real life aptitude they fit the definition: they revitalize other members and give them energy, particularly hoshi who literally gives energy by shouting "GO!" during long performance sets. in a real year at the officers academy only one student can win the heron cup and become dancer (and i think that each student/class is only supposed to attend for one year... but this may be ambiguous). jun's backup class would be falcon knight (sword lance flying)... he is lvr of animals, relatively stealthy and capable of reaching high places (again mousebusters meta) and also he gives me lance vibes. however i forgot its female locked in 3h so for gameplay's sake i'm actually going to put him in trickster (sword/reason/faith) because hello prankster who loves to trick his members (harmlessly), SEE MOUSEBUSTERS!. he's also a svt archery member staple but he seems shakier than vern/wz/dk. i can see him as a wyvern lord too... for no reason at all!
- mercenary > dancer: sword/authority
- seeing above, "hoshi who literally gives energy by shouting "GO!" during long performance sets" i definitely put him as dancer (sword/authority) first. like. literally allows tired units to move again. dancers have the ability to use magic too, but for his backup class i was thinking something very physical, like hero/war master? as in his strength'd be higher than his mag. his baby class could be brigand or merc... merc for the swords. also hoshi IS caspar, which lends credence to war master
- assassin > mortal savant: sword/reason
- i puzzled over this guy... he has his head in books which makes reason a good aptitude for him, but moderate-high strength/skill is also swordmaster/assassin territory. which actually adds up to mortal savant?! swordmaster and assassin have astra and lethality respectively as mastery rewards which i have soft spots for from previous games (i never reach them in 3h), and i especially love the idea of jeon one shot killing random enemies with a bow because of his sky high dex. usually in fe you're not going to have high str and mag at the same time, but i really cant decide which one... because i can totally imagine him in linhardt/hubert outfits. i dont really see him as a sword main, so magic probably? he's more evenly balanced than most, i think, he doesn't need to have that much offensive power at once. did i mention wonwoo gives me dark mage vibes? i dont think i had a reason for picking wyvern lord ww originally i think it was also vibes lol
- assassin: sword/bow > bow knight
- dark knight: lance/reason/riding
- stealth and intelligence king. also pretty good at archery so assassin/bow knight. and he has TONS OF MURDEROUS INTENT! that makes him more perfect for lethality than jeon. i can also imagine him being a rly powerful magic unit though, and certainly has the aptitude to be a commander role.
- dark bishop > mortal savant: sword/reason
- minghao is very lithe and that makes him a good swordmaster-adjacent class, with high speed and skill (dexterity). minghao is extremely good at controlling his movements. but you know... something about minghao is magical too, and a lot of his stages lean "dark" i think. i think of his cyzj twinkle twinkle little star outfit. you can also think about how the animations for magic in this game are really beautiful, and i think that's a lot like his art. i also think out of anyone in the group i'd most love to assign him inherent dark magic use (think lysithea's dark spikes, luna etc) BECAUSE THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! i think his strength would be lower than his magic
- fortress knight: lance/axe/heavy armor > great knight?
- war monk: axe/brawl/faith
- mr. jack of all trades... mingyu is literally fast see isac relay. i think he is a little too clumsy for me to say he's got aptitude in accuracy haha... fortress knight with unusually high speed? LOL. i think he definitely went through hero class actually he's just Protag Vibes (even though hero class doesn't really have anything to do with being protag in this game). what else might fit him... war monk bc he can do anything! but i still think his magic is weaker
- great knight: lance/axe/heavy armor
- bow knight: lance/bow/riding
- it's the excalibur star in him. i wish i had a better explanation but he has like, stahl from fe13 vibes to the point where i'm like he's literally just paladin -> great knight, no questions asked. (personality matches up well too but that's not very relevant LOL) i love to think of him as a loyal and a protector, so archetypal knight. king arthur as a role might suggest high/great lord but i'd have to consider the story implications of that. he's also svt isac archery event star who's broken the camera before, so bow knight (lance/bow/riding) is a fine alternative.... indicates accuracy/stability
- bishop > holy knight (lance/faith/riding)
- seungkwan.. also likes to fight ppl LOL but i dont think in this kind of way... he's "bossy" but his heart is about caring for people and wanting the best for them... points to healing ability (bishop/holy knight). bishop's skills (abilities) are more aligned with healing than holy knight, who while healing also has better offense bc of white tomefaire but in my experience a holy knight like marianne is perfectly good at healing (esp with a healing staff) and has the advantage of mobility. seungkwan would get physic and recover or restore, probably... the perfect healer. kid would also have authority affinity lol, and his lance skill would be grinded through lecture and not practical use bc why would he attack people with a lance when he has nosferatu
- wyvern lord: (lance/axe/flying)
- because i want someone to be wyvern lord... T___T (this is different from claude's wyvern master btw... lance/axe/flying vs bow/authority/flying) i also find it easy to imagine vern flying around and seeing things from the sky, helping out wherever he's needed. he can also use bows if he wants 2! he has high dex! that said i have like no idea what vern's preferences are at any given moment so he could totally be like no in an rpg i'd use magic. he's a flexible character. but i do love the idea of verkwan polar opposite strengths yet again... the juxtaposition gives me so much joy. the only other thing is he has slow speed but wyvern lords are a pretty fast class but that's not a make or break thing
- war master: axe/brawl
- very strong see thigh strength competitions. definitely default to war master (axe/brawl)... why i don't think he should be war monk (add healing capability) it's not that i don't think he cares about other people because he's definitely nice and caring and wants to lead (older brother stuck as a maknae). but i think his (figurative) strength is literally his offense and that he always wants the opportunity to prove himself and what he can do for the group. the canonical war monk in 3h is balthus and his healing sucks anyway, so there's no point. i could also see fortress knight or great knight but the armor is again not something i really see dino being patient enough for; in the former case i always use fortress knight as a tank so no. he wants to FIGHT! but great knight would admittedly look pretty grand on him. his personal skill would definitely be like, +strength leading a battalion. and he'd definitely have inherent authority affinity.
