first of all i cannot take this seriously anymore now that i do not believe in ordering by scrobble count... but still i find it interesting to watch the general trends even if the ranking is a bit misleading. i don't think ariana has ever been in my top 10 but despite my opinions on her morals this is my favorite album of hers >_> when the worst person you know makes a great album... taylor found a way in there even though ttpd was super boring because she always does... obviously the trend is that if a pop girl releases i'll listen to her a lot more but the trick is that taylor is always releasing something!!

before this year i only knew alaska from maggie rogers but when she released don't forget me (3rd album) i liked it and dug back into her catalog. i liked songs from all three of her albums and they're all pretty different genre-wise if you ask me so that's a great thing! this was helped by the fact that she toured close enough for me to see her & i loved getting to hear a lot of the fan favorites live ♡

every year i listen to seventeen a little bit less... but it can't get any lower than this right?! (oh my girl is off the chart this year so it definitely can). i felt like the kpop and jpop was too inconsistent for me to really talk about.... for example i really like sakurazaka's first 2024 mini but not the other two.

of these maggie rogers/sakurazaka46 have the longest songs and ariana/le sserafim probably have the shortest. food for thought if you care!!

no track could beat glb/cosmic in either metric which is just Nice... both are "long" for music these days and they're just complete songs!! i love them. the ones i will plug as you may not have heard them are that's where i am / moonlight / kokoro no kage-e because i think they are severely underappreciated! the rest are like... you've heard of them or i will not try to convince you of them. but they will all be in the playlist at the bottom.

lately i've realized how much i tend to like SM music... not all their music mind you but whatever category baekhyun / irene / jaehyun / suho / etc fit into this year. & winter spark!! i'm glad i made myself listen to most of the exo soloists' backlogs because the kai song about depression from 3 years ago ended up being one of my favorites...
