wwjn as a dynamic/fan viewing
humiliating that i'm doing this. the only thing more humiliating would be formatting and structuring it properly so i'm not going to do that.
both of them are very quiet in general (wonwoo introducing himself as being in charge of being silent in svt) but it depends on the situation and how much they can contribute to the conversation. "i was only going to invite jun to do vlive but i thought all we'd do is breathe." jww is witty, so he can speak up when he has a comment to make. jun finds it difficult to speak up when there are a lot of korean speakers because he cannot speak quickly and clearly convey his thoughts as well as he'd be able to in his native language. it's not like jun isn't funny but his communication ability is hindered by the language barrier. "it's not funny if i don't understand it." so he's shy about interjecting and needs time and support to feel comfortable speaking. meanwhile jeon is observant of this part of jun... sort of weak evidence here but i believe it is generally true that he's good at picking up on how members feel... and because jun is someone who finds it hard to speak up in such group contexts about what he needs it's nice that ww can help.
neither of them are humorless; again wonwoo really likes word-based humor/puns and jun's idea of funny is like. not funny to him but you can see the huge difference in their delivery lol.
both of them like to play games though jww is apparently phasing out of that and moving on to adult hobbies like videography and working out ^___^ jww has always liked to read books though and jun will only read things if its on his phone (internet novels). jun however is constantly on his phone; during meals; back stage; even in the middle of a gose episode.
both of them like cats a lot to the point where they share cat emoji representation. jun says he loves cats and dogs equally but he has adorable pictures of playing with cats and he draws juncat which is a little cat with pointy ears on people’s fansign pages (rip in person fansigns). wonu has donated/volunteered for cat shelter :) and they're both so quiet/lazy that it matches their images

the last thing for similarities is their taste in music.... although their artists don't overlap because of lang again both of them really like emotional/lyrical music or ballads and to sing that too~
as far as thesis statement goes my first joke thesis was that ww takes up 50% of jn brain functions lol. while clearly untrue it made me think a lot about how ww clearly is some sort of priority to jun. i think the more interesting idea to think about is how incompatible/compatible their communication styles are. in this way it's very easy for fic writers (and here i mean a specific subset of wnh fic writers typically for ambiguous relationships, not everyone) to create the story's conflict through the inability of both of them to either define their own feelings, decide what action to take, communicate with the other person, etc. judging their relationship/reading each other, or the environment, etc. it's about basically anything but having to say what you feel out loud lol
junpriority #1: famously jun leaning over to help seokmin untangle and put on his apron but dropping it instinctively and immediately when he turned and saw ww needed help with his. embarrassing for him (and poor seokmin LOL hope he did not take it to heart) but very revealing.
junpriority #2: my personal favorite but subtle moment is jun mentioning wonwoo 3 times during his going seventeen 2019 presentation (link: 16:30 to 19:57) .... this feeds further into my wonwoo shenzhen agenda. (1) "ww mentioned the trip episode with 1 million views..." (2) "ww said earlier it would be hard to travel far away..." (3) " wonu, you can't eat fish right. that's okay there's other foods in shenzhen". like no one asked jun but thanks for accommodating specifically for someone you care about. (ww reciprocates and wants to go just bc of how much jun's talked about it!)
wonu is really one of jun's 1+1 (members travel to shenzhen film contents) agenda's biggest supporters T___T in episode 13 of 2019 gose he asked when they were doing 1+1 (link: 29:30) and like being realistic, 1+1 is not about the buy 1 get 1 free hilarity as much as it is jun petitioning for the chance to get to do something close to his heart (introduce his members to where he grew up) in a way that still benefits the company (through content filming) and therefore isn't entirely selfish. wonwoo thinks jun is a horrible travelmate because he just lies in the hotel room and uses his phone during tours but he actively changed his answer to yes i will go on a trip with you when jun clarified he would like to go to his hometown T___T (link: 7:50 to 8:47) and again i think this is really meaningful because of that sort of subtle and honest support that jun needs b/c wonwoo can be so straightfwd sometimes rather than always performatively kind that you know he is being genuine when he is
jeon wonwoo sucks at communication evidence #1: “When Wonwoo notices you’re angry, he won’t talk to you but he’ll send you a text message. Even if you’re just next to him. It’s cute.” first of all the fact that jun said this and no one jumped to agree means we can only know this scenario has happened with jun before lol. but this is a very indirect way of speaking b/c jeon can be too shy to say things outright.... this weverse post / exchange with hoshy is so funny because of that, like he reads many books is great at using words etc., and thus loves to communicate over text.... he's honestly not that shy speaking to carats (see: osaka's moon is bright tonight) but at the same time look at how deeply you need to read into the meaning....

the other day i tweeted "derivative of If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more [quote from jane austen's emma]-- if I knew you more I might be able to love you less" and andrea said the latter was wwjn... "the wnhui fic appeal is the unknowableness Is it love for the mystery or the person beneath all that ?" and i think that is the key behind this particular fanviewing of wwjn as rps. wonwoo and jun are quite different so the fact that they don't fully understand each other, the fact that at times they can be an enigma to each other is why they gravitate towards each other. the idea that it's not about knowing someone else intimately but being in love with the image of them. the maintenance of some distance between them, emotionally (and often physically)
on knowing bros wonwoo's nickname was dreamer/someone who imagines things but doesn't do them, which matches this conception of him as someone who has a vivid understanding of possibilities and a lot of introspection but not the willingness to take action because then other people get involved, and probably why so many people like to cast jww as a writer!
to disclaim, i definitely don't think it's this deep irl just by probability but it's an easy narrative to fit to the data.
