gp999 dynamics

hyojungssinteresting GIRLS PLANET 999 pairings for your edification ♡ +excessive neuroticism tangent
icb how desensitized i've gotten to this horrible show name. anyway the backstory is that in episode 1 of the show an mnet assigned group of chinese girls covered clc's helicopter in front of choi yujin. now you'd think something like 'they're so brave to do that!!' but we're all pretty sure that mnet assigned songs and girls together at will b/c of what eliminated girls have shared. fu yaning said "we go up helicopter and we make hella noise for the take off but you don't" to yujin in front of everyone unprovoked, except it was probably mnet provoked and edited to make her look like a horrible person with no tact!! anyways we all hated her back then and also in the eve stage when you dayeon chose the team and fyn led because she was the oldest and the group was in shambles because ydy is an anxious and ambitious istj.* but a lot of eliminated c trainees said fyn is really sweet and she redeemed herself in the mitm stage with a neutral edit. then in the car fanmeeting they did the helicopter cover again but yujin joined them so they have publicly made nice. i like her now and fyn and cai bing fought over yujin so like, the basis is there!!
fu yaning / you dayeon would have so much baggage, but this would only work if ydy debuted again and fyn debuted in the final bc i doubt they'd ever interact again otherwise. i would guess that they don't like each other because of the eve experience and you dayeon was tragically axed in episode 5 due to the cell system and her evil, evil edit </3 (she was k14 in indv voting but her cell was ranked 19, two below the cutoff T____T i hate mnet... i knew she wasn't going to debut but really she deserved another 3 episodes at least.) so there was no time to make up, i think. the eve traumatized everyone but i don't think it's fair to say ydy did it, and hindsight is 20/20 and people were so mean to her for her choices omg. i hate mnet. anyway fyn (1997) is only one year older than ydy (1998) and yet asked for the leader position because she was the oldest of the group so i just think there's so much to work with there, between age dynamics and potential mbti cog functions clashing (te possibly in common), as far as how each of them viewed the other and grew as a result of that experience, and now i really do want to write futurefic where they meet in the hallway of the mcountdown building.
choi yujin / fu yaning would be less interesting just bc i don't honestly think they were ever really enemies but there probably was some light tension as a result of the moment AND as a result of how their ep1 edit made fyn look horribly mean to her. anyway i still want them to debut together but i used up all my antagonistic energy thinking about fynydy. i think they are called fuyujin though they seem quite popular.
fu yaning / cai bing / su ruiqi ... allegedly fyn and cb are besties ... T___T also everyone is saying that c2 is a fight between fyn and srq and that c3 is unlikely to make it into the group. i stopped voting for fyn because it's 1pick now and i'm going for yujin and ik it doesn't make a difference but man, i hate the thought of either of them (fyn srq) not making it after their previous survival show experiences. the fact that made me put this on here is srq going from consistent top 9 placement to p10, and c3, when fyn went up from her consistent lower placement to p8 and c2. the fact that they're close means new tension and stress and that is a dynamic shoved straight into an oven. i cannot wait to see next week's final.
* ydy put istj for her show profile which i can only assume is from taking the 16p personality test that korea uses for everything, which i hate and have never gotten istj on despite heavily identifying with istj. but i can see my own tendencies in her, which is why i think it's right that she's ixtj at least. iirc fyn is entj, which i certainly can't refute. but it's hard to identify without reading interviews, and pdatabase has typed her esfp solely on gp999's first few eps which is really not my fave thing because it's all mnet narrative out here... i know that i typed ydy based on those but it's different.
myah (2006) is everyone's baby, universally loved but yujin (1996) has such an older sister vibe towards her, and clearly she loved ruan (04) sm!! similar for bora (99) and wenzhe (97), manami (02) is their baby T__T there's also xiaorina (99z) who have been glued to the hip since day 1 but they're so sweet and normal that i really don't care about them.
despite having a few begrudging baby faves like an jeongmin (04) i gravitated a lot towards the older members on this show (1995-1999) bc i feel a lot more comfortable seeing them in moderately unhealthy emotional situations that they need to work out. i realized that what i like to see is not... necessarily healthy at all times but that this is very ok because life is not only about being in peaceful loving relationships with others, and in fact the Real Adult World is associated with navigating your differences with coworkers or s/os or inlaws etc. one of these things that isn't exactly Right is acting a certain way with someone due to the perception of you two by other people. i think i've always been obsessed, overly so, with how other people perceive me, even though in most cases they probably aren't at all. i observe people so much when i'm not close enough with them to actually talk freely with them, so it scares me when people are also observant like that because i'm like, what do you know about me now!! it's like i have a power that i know is strong so when others have it i realize what they're capable of. anyway this stood out to me when reading conversations with friends and watching nevertheless LOL, which both have some questionable toxicity in them, ymmv. but eg laughing louder than usual in your convo with a friend because you know someone else is listening to you guys and seething because they're jealous and this not being someone you hate. sometimes its truly like what's the point of having fun if redacted isn't there to see it. i think i will call it 'actively shaping the perception of yourself in the eyes of someone else'. i don't know how to explain it but there's a lot of nuance to jealousy and yearning that ISN'T acted on immediately that is really much better than the actively possessive bf trope that so much YA relies on. anyway this was a real tangent but the point is that i take the most interest in pairings with emotional tension/baggage/unspoken words/inability to act on feelings including a lack of comfort with the person of interest that everyone else seems to have. (another tangent but this is social butterfly wjh vs unapproaching jww, tonyang etc.)
all this to say i will try to write fynydy after all but i am historically poor at actually writing things i say i want to write unless it's fest forced or like 2 years later and still relevant. T__T choi yujin fu yaning let's debut...
